Besides watts, what are some of the other main differences between the receiver at the price point you recommended and something like this

Is it just features and watts or sound quality also?
Thanks
I need to replace a Denon AVR-3808CI. I have been happy with it, though I need to replace it with a receiver that will support my 4K TV and different 4K devices. I want to connect a 4K DirecTV, a 4K AppleTV, a 4K Xbox, and have room for future additions. Other then that I do not know what to...
S0 16 is fine for the rears, though is it not a good idea to use 16 for the front left, center and right if each of those cables had to run 50-ft each? I'm still trying to figure out how to configure my room.
Thanks!
I bought some Monster Cable XPNW MS Navajo White (all that was available at the store) flat speaker wire and it doesn't even say what the gauge is, though I'm pretty sure it is 16. I need to run the cables about 50ft to get around the perimeter of my room. I also bought some Monster Cable...
So with this solution, I wouldn't be trying to feed my cables under the carpet between the tack strips, but instead along the crown molding where it touches my carpet?
Thanks.
I want to setup a room with a TV at the front of the room and an equipment cabinet hidden behind a sofa on the opposite side of the room. The cabinet will contain the following pieces:
- DirecTV box
- AppleTV
- Blu Ray player
- receiver
How do I set everything up so my remote will control all of...
Do you think it is realistic to try to get an HDMI cable, a coaxial cable and 3 speaker wires to run under the crown molding seen in the attached image (if I were to take it off, run the cables and put the molding back over it)? If I could
Thanks!
I need to run some speaker wire and an HDMI cable from where my TV is located above a fireplace and down the side of the fireplace to under the carpet. Can anyone recommend a way to attach the wires to the side of the fireplace in some enclosure or using some clip?
Thanks.
I need to run my front speaker wires about 50-ft from where my display is and along the baseboards of my living room to my equipment.
Can anyone recommend a brand/model of speaker wire for this?
Thanks.
Part of the the reason I might need to run the wires under the carpet is because I have a door on the wall where I would need to run some of the speaker wire, so I couldn't put it under the molding if I wanted to because it would have to stop when it gets to the door, though I guess I could run...
Hi Sam,
I have never seen anything like this before. Thanks for the explanation. What is the advantage of doing it this way vs. just running the wire all the way to my back wall behind where my sofa will be and having the speaker wire come out from where the carpet touches the wall?
Thanks.
Hi Jason,
What do you mean by "Anything over 25' with HDMI will require a beefier, thicker cable and would be a bit of a risk, IMO." What do you mean by "risk?"
Hi Sam,
What did you mean by 'You can make your own floor "speaker wire terminals". Can you point me to a link somewhere showing what you are describing?
I would like to place the equipment in a back corner inside a cabinet, that is why I was planning to run the HDMI cable across the room.
1. What is the max distance that HDMI cable should be run? This might ruin my plans for the cabinet in the back corner....
2. Is it still good to have two...
I'm going to replace the carpet in my living room and want to run speaker wire and HDMI cable before it is replaced. The room does not have a system currently, though it is large so I have some flexibility with regards to setting it up. I am planning to place the speaker wire under the padding...
I'm thinking of getting this: russound SS-4.2 http://www.russound.com/product_detail.php?i=1763 It does not have a built in amp, though from what I am reading, it should be able to handle the extra speakers in zone 2. Any thoughts on this? There are 2 speakers outside the main room and another...
Apparently, this is the device that the previous owner used, though it is no longer made. http://www.richard-hooker.com/sites/sonance/elect/260x3.htm I can buy them off of ebay and some other places. Is there anything dated about the technology in it? Should I consider a newer device? any...
The house is actually setup in two zones. One zone for the room with 5.1 and the rest of the rooms are all part of zone 2. 1. How much of a risk would I be taking by running the other speakers off the receiver at the same time? Is it very likely it will overheat? 2. With the multichannel amp...
I am moving into a new house that is already wired with speakers in the ceiling all throughout the house and there are a few speakers in the backyard. It was explained to me that the house has 2 zones. 1 for the main den area and the rest are on zone 2. I have a Denon AVR-3808CI that I want to...
