The point of 5G isn't (just) speed. It's in lower latency and wider coverage with more availability and more access points.

Honestly it's going to better for the infrastructure providers than it is for consumers for the most part. There are speed ups but it's not like going from 3g to 4G was.

I wanted to follow-up on your post about this, Sam.

Potentially, if 5G were implemented correctly, the speeds would be an insane jump from where they are now. Correct?

However, we don't have the proper infrastructure in place for consumers to get those benefits.

With that in mind, are consumers going to see any difference in data speed/signal strength when they buy their first 5G iPhone?

At this point, the only reason I am upgrading is to move to the new larger size Apple is introducing this year.

@Ronald Epstein not really. LTE is fast enough for most things most consumers care about: web, document downloads, video, video chat, email. Where it could be better is in low latency for time sensitive input on online gaming (FPS mostly), telemedicine, and things like that.

Most consumers would be 100x better loading an ad blocker than they would going to 5G, the results would be more impactful to them for web services.

Will it be faster? Yes, but will it be noticeable in real day to day use? Questionable.

New iPad and iPad Air announced!

There's got to be a new iPad Pro coming soon! Even a refresh with an A14Z or whatever. The current iPad Pro doesn't make sense in Apple's lineup against the new Air.

Looking like announcements on 10/13 (same day as Amazon Prime Day, allegedly) and preorders take place on 10/16

Latest rumors point to no Macbook/Pro announcements
