Strange thoughts were going through my head, as I viewed Fox's beautiful new 4k of Red Sparrow, as directed by Francis Lawrence.

One must acknowledge early on, that when the lead actress, in TV interviews, spends no time discussing the import of her work on the film, or how it affects our society, but goes right to the core of the matter, with comments like "you get to see my boobs," that you're not in for good ride.

Regardless of the artistic integrity of Jennifer Lawrence's breasts.

As photographed by Jo Willems, Red Sparrow is an exceedingly dark, low-key exercise in a certain Eastern Block magnificence.

Fortunately, as dark as it is, it comes across nicely in 4k, in a slightly confusing spy vs. spy drama.

As a film, there are better ways to spend your time.

For early teen boys, yes, you do get to see Ms Lawrence's boobs, or at least one of them.

As an aside, my thought while viewing involved, how her contract might read, for the exposure, which isn't really that necessary.

Well, if she was going to get $1.2 million per nipple I think it would have been well worth her while to show them both.

I think they did use Jennifer's boobs to promote the film which while they are wonderful they are not enough of a reason to watch the picture. Hopefully there is more to the picture than just her boobs, otherwise it is just a Porky's film without the laughs.

I preferred Jean Simmons, fully frocked, in Great Expectations.

Wow, I can't even remember her doing nudity in mother! which I guess is not that surprising given the rest of the content.

I am interested in seeing this as I like these sort of spy films involving Russians (timely) but I'm not sure this one is a purchase for me.

Hey, you know as I understand it nudity is now sometimes added using computer graphics. The actor or actress wears a body suit that they then use CGI to create the nudity over. I guess that's today's version of a body double.

This is probably the best review of the waste of time this film is that I have yet read. Thanks for the good laugh! I'm sure the 4K release is technically brilliant.

To me this felt like a soulless retread of Nikita in a number of ways with the violence ramped way, way up to cover for having no purpose.
