Brilliant, brilliant man. No Who Framed Roger Rabbit without his genius behind it. He will be sorely missed!

Recently, he said he was "doing his best work", which was building on his short film "Prologue", which was nominated for an Oscar in 2015:

Today I have to take seven drawings, cut them out and stick ‘em down in different positions. I’m doing a complicated turning zoom while a character gestures with a big hand up close. You can’t rely on formulas, these things I am doing are challenging one offs. Every one a battle.

The solution to my problem this morning is the usual one : remember to take one thing at a time.

One of the greats. :-(

Pink Panther Strikes Again was the first I saw of those. I bought the album, still have it. Loved everything about that movie. I remember just being mesmerized by the titles he did.

No mention of "The Thief and The Cobbler"? The film that occupied a huge part of his life. It was almost an obsession with him for a good part of his career. RIP.

And speaking of THIEF AND THE COBBLER, where can one see the UNCOBBLED CUT?

I’m assuming you mean the RECOBBLED cut? If so, the recobbled cut can easily be found on YouTube (I actually rewatched it last night in honor of Williams). Right now, I’m actually curious about the Moment in Time cut that’s been making the rounds in screenings (this comprises Williams’ last workprint of the film before it was seized from him) and for the record, I absolutely despise the butchered versions that tried to turn it into an Aladdin ripoff, especially the Miramax cut. It’s somewhat heartening to know that he at least put aside his bitterness about what happened to the film that he could talk about it at screenings before the end. Here’s a link to the Recobbled Cut in one video for posterity’s sake:

Thanks. Back in the 1970's an animator friend showed me some scenes from THIEF AND THE COBBLER he had obtained. I have always b been fascinated by this film I understand there is a documentary about the making of the film called THE PERSISTENCE OF VISION. Has anyone here seen it?
