Christopher Strong, a 1933 RKO production has an entire list of important factors going for it, and in the end is a nice film, if never a great one.
Katharine Hepburn's first starring role;
Directed by Dorothy Arzner;
Produced by David O. Selznick;
Photographed by Bert Glenn;
Score by Max Steiner.
Warner Archive's new Blu-ray is lovely. While I was a bit concerned by rather soft main titles, once into production photography, the film shines.
And being derived from a 4k scan of the OCN, it should.
A beautiful release that I presume will be gobbled up by Hepburn completists.
Mordaunt Hall of the New York Times noted:
"This Connecticut girl has a haunting beauty in many of her scenes and the spontaneity of her actions and the speaking of her lines enhance the attractiveness of her appearance."
Image – 4.5
Audio – 4.5
Pass / Fail – Pass
Plays nicely with projectors - Yes
