I believe this was filmed on 16mm, so it'll be interesting to see the improvement over previous releases. I suppose it could look a lot better if they've gone back & scanned the 16mm original negative*, & if the previous releases have just used the 35mm blow-up elements. But 4K...

* yes they did: "4K restoration from the original 16mm negative by MoMA" ($49.95!).

As I said about Texas Chainsaw Massacre's 4k..

Was anyone clamoring for Basket Case on 4K? Format elitists and a few cult oddity enthusiasts will snap this up without batting an eye but I can't imagine Arrow making much bank on this one. This is what happens when the pickings get thin.

They will most likely recoup their costs and make a profit - that's probably the business rationale. The 4K scan was already done. It's tiresome for this continual 4K UHD reissue, a couple of years after the blu-ray. The fact that Arrow Video didn't release a 4K UHD of The Desperate Hours, at the same time of the blu-ray - when they had performed a 6K scan of the VistaVision negative - could be because they can just go ahead and release a "Special Edition" 4K UHD in a couple of years' time.
