This was very exciting to read today.

Last time I watched Buck Rogers on DVD (just for nostalgia, and some 80's TV does not age well...), sounded like there was some rights issue with Mel Blanc, and another voice had been dubbed in to bidi-bidi for Twiki.
I'm assuming we're getting the "restored" version from the original sources?

Since the movie will be a separate disc, will this mean the broadcast version will have the different ending?

The Australian release is outstanding.Superb picture with Mono sound.The Movie version is in Mono.
It the cinemas and Laserdisc it was Stereo surround.
I still have the Laserdisc.Wonder if it plays...
As these are probably the same masters USA customers can rest assured they look
great,being from new 35mm Masters.

It wasn’t a rights issue. Mel Blanc was replaced in the second season with Bob Elyea until fan backlash brought him back for the last few episodes. No changes to the series were made for home video.
