If you want to start considering your taxes for tax year 2018, I discovered that the IRS has a not-very-well publicized page where they post their draft forms for 2018. I've often been annoyed with the IRS for not having their forms available until around the New Year, which is not helpful.

The draft 1040 is amazingly short. Pay attention to line 5e of 1040-schedule A in particular.

Everyone will now use "long" form 1040: forms 1040A and 1040EZ have been eliminated.

Form 1040 now has six (SIX) new schedules which are attached in a building block fashion.

I can’t remember when I haven’t used TurboTax to do taxes.
Haven’t used forms in over 20 years.
