Please bear with me here. I'd like to nominate Little Big Man and Lonesome Dove. Some would argue that Little Big Man is not a true Western, but it does deal with aspects the the genecide of Native Americans in a much truer way than most. As for Lonesome Dove being a television mini-series, it still stands as perhaps the greatest Western epic ever.
