How could anyone list Oscar subs in the 40s without mentioning Edward G. Robinson for Double Indemnity?
It was explained to me that saying "the winner is..." indirectly labels the other nominees as losers, a very negative image. Saying "the Oscars goes to..." doesn't leave the other nominees in such a negative light.Maybe a little off topic but why don't they say "And the Winner Is" when awarding Oscars like they used to?
You hear media constantly referring to "the Academy award winning film" or" "the Ocsar winning film", not "the film the Oscar went to".
Is there a taboo against winners?
It makes me sad.
Good call- great film. How could anyone list Oscar subs in the 40s without mentioning Edward G. Robinson for Double Indemnity?
A resounding yes to this.Actress - Geraldine Page in Dear Heart (1964)
I can see an argument both ways but I'd go with Supporting since he doesn't have a lot of screen time until the second half of the movie.Robert Shaw-"Jaws" (What category do we put him in?)
