Onkyo has announced a new firmware update that enables select Onkyo, Pioneer Elite and Integra receivers to have Sonos Volume Pass Through capabilities.
The update allows owners to control the receiver’s volume through the Sonos app via phone or other device. This obviates the need to preset the volume level on the receiver or run into potential issues related to the presence of multiple volume controls, and it also means that you will be able to control the volume from anywhere in your home. Onkyo says that these AV receivers are the “world’s first” and only ones able to manage and route up to three Sonos Ports or Connects without a control system.
The following models will be automatically upgraded with the new functionality:
Onkyo Models
TX-NR696, TX-NR797, TX-RZ740, TX-RZ840
Pioneer Elite Models
VSX-LX304, VSX-LX504, SC-LX704, SC-LX904
Integra Models
DRX-3.3, DRX-4.3, DRX-5.3
