Hello. I was in my local Goodwill store and came across what appeared to be a very large, dirty, front loading VCR. It had to be from the late 70’s/early 80’s. What intrigued me was that it had in large print on the front, “Lafayette instrument company VHS Analyzer model 00895. I’m not having much luck online other than finding some online on eBay, but any reference assumes that a person has knowledge of what it is. Can anyone here shed some light on what this is and its potential usefulness?

Got this from a Chat GPT, so it may or may not be correct: A VHS analyzer is a device used to analyze and diagnose issues with VHS tapes and VCRs (video cassette recorders). It is a tool that can provide detailed information about the quality of the video and audio signals on a VHS tape, as well as detect any playback problems such as tracking errors, noise, or distortion. It can also help troubleshoot and fix issues with VCR playback and recording functions.
