I was just at Barnes & Noble and they are also having a 50% Arrow sale. For Criterion I picked up the Raging Bull 4K and the Mildred Pierce Blu.

I thought it was mentioned earlier in one of these threads several weeks ago when it started, but maybe it was a different board.

Arrow Sale ends 7/17 unless they extend it.

Yes, it's the concurrent Arrow sale that had me buy a few more titles than planned, as well as kick myself a bit for not waiting to pick up a multidisc title I got back in January.

I got the Bergman box set for half off….from Amazon. Despite being over the threshold, BN was insisting on charging me $5.95 for shipping.

Quick reminder -- the current Criterion Sale at BN ends Sunday night.
It's always hard to guess exactly what time the online sale ends, but often between Midnight and 1am ET in the past many of the prices will start to revert. It doesn't always last through 3am ET/Midnight PT.

According to a post on Criterion's Forum, the BN 50% OFF MSRP Fall Sale will start Nov 4 and run through Nov 28. I think this is an employee who has had good information before.
I was hoping it would start today and run the full 4 weeks, but it appears with the calendar, they opted to start the 1st NOV weekend and only do 3 + weeks this year.

Usual Terms are likely to apply -- only items released by Nov 28 will be included, member discounts and coupons will not apply. This should apply for In-store
and online purchases. International sales have been very unpredictable of the last couple years -- some people seem to be able to order, others don't.
There usually of Holiday GC deals with discount applied directly or with a Bonus GC allowed which can add 10-15% extra savings.
BARNES & NOBLE FREE SHIPPING is $40
B&N search can be a little screwy at times (specifically make sure to use "View All Available Formats & Editions" if you are looking for a specific version) , but usually searching by UPC goes straight to the item.

ITEMS RELEASED SINCE THE END OF LAST B&N SALE.
MRSP $39.99 BLURAY AND $49.99 4KUHD unless otherwise noted

Sale is now live. The Arrow 50% off sale will also continue online and in-store until Nov 28.

Also B&N is doing a Gift Card Sale through Nov 20 or 21 -- Buy $100, get a Bonus $10 card. If you buy the GC online (once per account), the Bonus Card will be emailed to you in mid Dec (no expiration date). In store, it's usually a multiple of $100 so if you buy $500 you will receive $50 in Bonus Cards (some stores it will be 5 $10 cards, most now load a card with $50). I;m not sure this time if those will be normal GC (active on Day 1) or if the activation is delayed until Nov. It seems last time I did this in store, they were regular GC and could be used immediately. In the past few years, they've had a similar or often better Black Friday deal with $10 fpr $75 or $10 for $50 GC.

For folks that have AMEX CC with offers, you may want to check for BLACKHAWK GC offers (my and wife's AMEX card get this offer 203 times per year) -- through the end of Dec if you buy certain cards via Blackhawk.com or Happycards.com AMEX will refund $15 for $100. This now appears to be an E-GC deal instead of Physical Cards in prior offers which makes a difference -- more immediate, but blocks one of the better ways to get extra savings. The physical Happy Card for BN was actually a Prepaid Debit/CC and not actually a GC so you could then buy a BN GC with the BN Offer and stack the discount often pushing the discount to 22- 30% with some deals. The e-GC can now be redeemed for one of several specific cards depending on which version you buy so you end up exchanging the Happy Card for a regular BN Gift Card (like most Store GC, you can't then buy a BN GC with a BN GC).

If you frequent various GiftCard reseller sites where people sell unwanted GC for discounts -- Cardpool, Raise.com, Cardbear, numerous other sites -- it appears many are offering BN cards for 10-15% off currently. I find many of these sites of quite good for buying cards (most of the complaints seem to be selling cards to them), but you have to be somewhat smart. Buy from known sites who offer a 45-100 day guarantee on the GC, always immediately check that a card is loaded properly, and my strong advice is to not partially use cards and try to save them for later. Buy only as much as you need and deplete an individual card fully in a single purchase when at all possible then pay the balance with a normal payment or a normal 1st purchaser GC.

For the last Quarter of 2022 the Discover card Cashback bonus for Amazon and Digital wallets* (you have to add it on before it can take effect) so if you use that method to pay for Amazon it might work out better. Some of the Criterion titles eg Malcom X 4K & Power of the Dog 4k showed the 50% off price but were not available to order - those I ordered through B&N. B&N also has PBS titles @ 50% off as well if you are having trouble finding Arrow or Criterion titles to get to $40.00 for free shipping.

Ordered through Amazon:

Eve's Bayou
Infernal Affairs Trilogy
Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project 4
Wall-E 4K

YMMV

*Digital wallets includes Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Garmin Pay

Is it confirmed that the sale is good in stores? I was at B&N today and there was no signage for the sale up anywhere.

by many people. I'm hoping to make my big run tomorrow and catch a few of the very recent Criterions and some Arrow items. If not tomorrow, then Thursday

Not sure if I'll be able to make a 2nd run later in the month or not. Might have to hold my breath and order online for the last couple releases

That's not unheard of re: lack of signage.

AFAIK, this sale has always been simultaneously in-store and online, except for the exact start/end times just because online is 24/7 (and also only some diffs/discrepancies involving coupons, membership discounts and such back in the day that's no longer relevant now). And yes, some stores might not be very consistent/regular w/ putting up the usual signage for it (or labeling individual copies for this sale or any other sales).

The DVD/Blu-ray/UHD section just recently shrunk at my local store to one bay of Criterion discs mounted on the wall 'hidden' near the back. I haven't been to the store yet (there's nothing I want until November 22) but I doubt they have signage for the sale because there's nowhere to place it.

Yes, going to a store for this sale now makes almost no sense. Most stores near me no longer have a section for any kind of video product...no Blu, DVD, 4K...nothing.

Fortunately my local B&N now has the biggest physical media section in the area. An entire room of Blu-ray, 4K, DVD, CD, and Vinyl. It also includes an entire row of Criterion.

That's interesting. The stores I can find that have a section of physical media have mostly reduced it to one small bookcase and with just a few of the most recent Criterion releases. It is a total bust to travel to a store for me.
