To be honest, the Blu-ray copy of -- no pun intended -- Copycat doesn't look atrocious...it's watchable, but doesn't look great. It literally looks like a product of its time (soft-ish 90s visuals).completely agree with that.
visually the DVD transfer seems to be originated from LaserDisc release... no matter NTSC or PAL, there're noticeable greenish hues on red objects, flesh tones kind of non-consistent. if there's a workable LDPlayer, i would have continue playing COPYCAT on LD rather than DVD.
i wonder when is W.Bros going to revisit older catalogue titles like COPYCAT, A TIME TO KILL, THE CLIENT, PELICAN BRIEF, and many others... do a cleanup, 4K upscale, not necessarily a 4K release... but rather "off 4K master" FHDBD release.
I agree about Warner's other vault titles -- I have A Time to Kill on DVD, as well, and that is one of their early snapper case flipper discs, wherein the film would continue on the opposite side of the disc (due to length; the compression schemes weren't advanced enough yet). Other Warner catalog titles need attention in this regard, as well, like Under Siege, Out For Justice, Fire Down Below, Executive Decision, Twister, Pacific Heights, et al. These films are screaming for 4K scans or, as you suggested, a 4K master for a reissued Blu.
