I'm close to where you are, Ron. I'm not done buying Blu's or DVD's entirely, and I doubt I'd sell anything I have, but I still get the sentiment. I've got a huge collection and a good portion of it is just collecting dust. Right now my biggest obstacle is that I'm not retired and don't have that much time to indulge. So big swaths of my collection are just sitting on the shelf as my hectic life gets all the more busy.

The other issue I'm running into now is that, other than ClassicFlix, companies are not releasing my preferences when it comes to TV. I want the 50's and early 60's material primarily. And that appears to have all but dried up. So my excitement level has dropped tremendously. The same is true for films. The 30's - 50's are my sweet spot. But the only things being released are Noirs or other genres I'm burned out on. The stuff I really crave (b-westerns, domestic comedies, mysteries, b-musicals and fun adventure films) seem to be on no one's radar. Warners has material I'd dearly love to see, but the Weissmuller Tarzans and Abbott & Costello films don't seem to be getting any traction. So I'm just not very enthused at the moment.

To get this post back on track, I'll reiterate that I'd purchase most of the series on the list. But my favorites would still be Bachelor Father, Life of Riley, Jack Benny and then December Bride (if for no other reason than Frances Rafferty).

Same with me, Gary. Although I plan to retire soon so I'll really have to watch the spending on more TV and movies. My first pick was Bachelor Father and probably Danny Thomas after that and almost any of the others would be fine. There are a couple I'm not familiar with. That Bachelor Father is more enjoyable every time I watch it. Noreen Corcoran really was a good, talented young actress. I saw her in an episode of Mr. Novak and she played a part much different than Kelly Gregg in Bachelor Father. I noticed in the last season of Bachelor Father that her character Kelly was much more mature and she changed her hair style. Looked really nice. Bernadette Withers and Jimmy Boyd are always nice to watch even though their characters are kind of goofy at times. Sammee Tong is terrific as Peter. A fun show for sure.
They had picked a different girl for the part but Ronald Reagan was there for the test when they told him they hired this other girl Reagan said you picked the wrong girl they went back watched Noreens test again and said Ronnie was right and thats how she got the part. Boggles the mind not one company can approach Universal and get this out https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...ru=/videos/search?q=john+forsthye&FORM=HDRSC4

John Forsythe said he owned half the show and after it ended Lew Wasserman of MCA bought him out so Universal owns the whole show

I'm pretty much in your boat, Gary. The majority of what I'd like to see released is 50s/60s TV and pre 60s B-Westerns, comedies, "fun adventure films," and the few holdout Horror and SF titles - the things I've loved all my life.

I'd buy the Weissmuller Tarzan films on BR in a hot second...

I already own the Abbott & Costello films on BR (I'm surprised you've not sprung for that huge Universal set) with the holdouts being only those titles held by Warner Brothers: ...Meet Captain Kid, Rio Rita, Lost in a Harem, and ...In Hollywood - though I *do* own copies of those on DVD (as well as the TV series).

I would support BRs of the Martin & Lewis filmography as well as that from The Stooges (even those rather lame late 50s/early 60s feature films).

Just for clarification, I do own the Universal A&C set. Bought it on DVD and then Blu day of release. And I have all the other films on either Blu (when available) or DVD. I even upgraded Rio Rita in HD via iTunes.

I was only speaking of the WB owned films. Those need to be upgraded to Blu. But I fear Warners isn't that interested. Hope I'm wrong.

I think they chose the right girl for the part of Kelly.

Without finding and watching an episode I couldn't say if I've ever seen Bachelor Father. All of the others on the list I *have* seen episodes of as many were either still airing or were in syndication when I was a kid. Several played mid-mornings and mid-afternoons where I grew up.

**EDIT**
Found some episodes on youtube and watched one. Nope... never seen it before (at least that I recall). Based on that one episode I watched it looks to be along the lines of Love that Bob.
The premise of "Bachelor Father" is very similar to the premise of "Family Affair." Both series deal with a bachelor whose world is turned upside down when his niece (or in the case of Family Affair, nieces and nephew) come to live with him. Also, they both have male housekeeper/servants.
I grew up watching "Family Affair" reruns. I never watched "Bachelor Father" until recent years on Antenna TV, but I now realize that Bachelor Father was the predecessor, and Family Affair was not the original idea that I thought it once was.

Just voted today. I passed on this a while back because I could only vote for one of them. So, today I voted for My Little Margie.
BUT, I would buy “complete series” sets on all of these shows if they were available!

Hmm.. I haven't seen most of these so it's hard to choose. The only ones I've found streaming are the Danny Thomas Show and Life of Riley (only a couple episodes).

No love for the Gale Storm Show? Surprising, as that's probably the rarest and hardest to find on the list.
I like that show, and would buy as an instant pre order. Anything with Gale Storm! I do have a gray area set with about 80 episodes, but a pro set would be very welcome!

The disappearance of Life Of Riley, a popular show which appeared in two versions and a feature film is one of the “little tragedies “ of the home video boom. Neglected by Fox and now Disney, we will probably never see it again.
It was very popular in its day, and ran for at least five years, and there was a radio show too.
It won’t get many votes in polls like this since it’s been MIA for so long!

The original poll covered MOST of the early sitcom we would like to see on DVD or Blu-ray, but here’s a list of “second division” shows many of us would also like to see released:
•People’s Choice
•Beaulah
•The Trouble With Father
•Bill Dana Show
•Pete And Gladys
•Fair Exchange
•He And She
•Love On A Rooftop
• Peter Loves Mary
•Please Don’t Eat The Daisies
•New Phil Silvers Show
•Many Happy Returns
•Father Of The Bride
•Bringing Up Buddy
•Happy…..
And I know , there are some sixties sitcoms there.
But since Classic Flix is looking to release some old one season shows, some of these might turn up.

Another addition could be the Ann Sothern Show which ran for three seasons. Although it was a different show from Private Secretary, it could almost be thought of as seasons 6-8. Sothern quit PS after season 5 after suing producer Jack Chertok over her share of the profits from the sale of PS into syndication, she quickly hooked up with Desilu to do a new show. The Ann Sothern Show was set in a New York City hotel but she brought along her Secretary co-stars Don Porter, Ann Tyrrell and Jesse White, and although they had different names, the relationships between the characters were basically the same: Porter was boss, Ann was his Girl Friday and Tyrrell their nervous assistant.

I agree , but the lazy side of me usually lumps that in with Private Secretary. They seemingly ran back to back and both are very similar and feature Don Porter. Naturally, I’d love to be able to buy complete seasons of both.

i see many of you answered the question based upon what had been released. i am not up to date on most of the releases, but i think the question has a lot more meaning, if it is interpreted by the amount you like the show. i answered it, as if there were no releases at all, and then i had my choice of the one that i would like done. doing it that way, make room for daddy was so far ahead of everyone else, that there really was no second place. and that includes all of the ones with the first wife.

the only other show on the list that i have memories of is bachelor father, which would have been my second choice. in my area, make room for daddy was on all sorts of reruns. at least the ones with marjorie lord.

3 of the 11 seasons. The companies that released Seasons 4 & 6 did a nice job. The one for Season 5 not quite as good.

Don Fedderson basically copied ”Family Affair” from “My Three Sons.” Both of them focused on a single man (Fred MacMurray, Brian Keith) raising three kids with the help of another older single man (William Frawley/Demarest, Sebastian Cabot). Fedderson tried it again with “To Rome With Love”, with John Forsythe and Walter Brennan, with less success.

just to reiterate - i voted based solely on how much i liked the show. not withstanding anything about what had already been released. i wasnt too familiar with most of them. love that bob sounds familiar - i probably saw that some. i started kindergarten in 1960.
