It appears Criterion.com decided to run their Fall Flash Sale a week early this year.

CRITERION.COM FLASH SALE

Usual Terms:
50% off MSRP (not current/Usual price) all in-stock movies -- DVD, BD, Includes Eclipse set, but not general merchandise. Backorders and pre-orders usually haven't been allowed. Items will go OOS so don't wait too long though the last few sales, many things did come back into stock at least once if not several times during the sale.
The website usually gets hammered in the first couple hrs so be patient. You can preload your cart and the prices will automatically adjust after the sale goes live, but if you load it too early Criterion will empty it -- never sure if they do it by time of day or number of hrs, but I usually load my cart an hour or two ahead and it works fine. Items and esp new popular item WILL go OOS during the sale. Sometimes they'll come back into stock during the time-frame, but never is a guarantee

Free Shipping at $75 (NOTE NEW HIGHER FS LIMIT) in the Lower 48 US otherwise $7.95 flat rate shipping USPS or $10.95 UPS
Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, PO Box, APO/FPO USPS PRIORITY MAIL ONLY
FREE SHIPPING has always been calculated before applying any promo rewards or Gift Certificates are deducted. I think it's also pre-tax so 49.97 + tax isn't free.

No International orders other than Canada. The last few sales, a CA site obstructedviews.com has run similar sale of 40-50% off items, but I can't say general reactions from Canadians regarding Unobs View website, shipping, and CSR has been overwhelmingly positive -- sometimes even the overall cost hasn't been significantly lower
DHL Express $23USD Flat Rate
Customs and Brokerage fees added by Delivery Service/Collected at Delivery and are the responsibility of the customer

Sales Tax has been expanded and now required for Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Criterion Loyalty program -- $50 Gift Cert for every cumulative purchase of $500 even if it takes 5 years. In the past those loyal rewards certs are sent via email almost immediately and are eligible for immediate use.
If you are close to $500 and have enough total items, I'd suggest making an order just big enough to qualify for the Loyalty Cert plus FS, then make another $50+ order with the extra money rather than make one large order and then have to wait 6 months for the next flash sale though the GC/Rewards don't expire. You can load them into your account and the $$$ will be there next sale. If you have more than one Reward Code ($50 or $10 Criterion Stream reward or others), these do appear to stack since they function essentially like Gift Cards.

Items released since last FLASH SALE -- Blu-ray MSRP $39.95USD unless otherwise noted. MSRP 4K UHD $49.95 unless noted

Two orders placed! One to earn my $50 gift certificate, and the other to use it along with two $10 gift certificates. My Criterion collection is now again complete.

Similar without the $10 certs

Split my wishlist so the 1st order pushed me over the $50 Reward and left enough for FS to apply on both orders.
Confirmation and rewards code arrived literally seconds after the order was placed.
Back to the wishlist and picked up another set of titles with the $50 cert + change. 2nd Order Confirm email received by 12:05pm

NOV BN list now pared down considerably mostly to upcoming releases and I did save the Scorsese Boxset to pick up in person.

Just saw some posts which seem to indicate the $75 free shipping limit isn't being enforced. I'm not 100% sure if they're using the normal pre-sale prices (not MSRP) to determine, but the exact limit isn't 100% clear to me
I added 2 19.97 titles and the shipping charges applied
I added 2 24.97 4K titles and it appears that FS is allowed./

Same here on the shipping limit, David. Probably just a matter of time until Criterion corrects it.

I haven’t done one of these sales in a while - lack of shelf space, etc. - but I had enough things waiting in the wings that I pulled the trigger on four titles: Arsenic and Old Lace, Lost Highway (both good for October watching), The Last Waltz (a Thanksgiving tradition in my home), and Flight of the Phoenix (which I had been in the mood to revisit). Logged in exactly at noon, moved them from my wishlist to the cart, and was done in under two minutes. Easiest time I’ve ever had with one of these sales.

As always, thanks to @David Norman for the heads up.

Weird thing is the cart still says stuff like Add $24 for Free Shipping, but the FS is already applied.
There is also a difference the way movies are applied toward FS and general merch -- I tried 2 carts one with just movies and one with the same value with movie and merch, but
the first got FS and the latter didn't

Glitch or Sale Bonus - either way good news for those who are only interested in a few titles.

Thanks, David, for the information about the loyalty program, which I didn't know about. Turned out I was $130 away from getting a $50 coupon, and so I took the plunge and ordered the 39-film Ingmar Bergman's Cinema set at half price for $150. I only currently have 2 Bergman films on blu-ray, and I've probably seen about 8 or 9 in my life. Anyway, only about four dollars per movie, plus the book that goes with it. Got my $50 coupon instantly with my order, and so now I need to figure out what to do with that. Plenty of choices....

With my $50 loyalty bonus, I got The Circus, Only Angels Have Wings, Double Indemnity 4k, and 3:10 to Yuma.

Subtotal: $84.88
Promotion discount: $50.96
Credit: -$50.00
Shipping & handling: $0.00
Tax: $5.09
Total: $39.97

Ten bucks a movie is the best I've ever done with Criterion!
(Except for that Bergman set mentioned above.)

I heard on this board someone was killed by a media shelf falling on them - so you definately should be concerned ;)!

After debating some bit (and actually watched a couple candidates on TCC), ordered these 3 BDs (w/ my 2x $10 GCs from my TCC subs plus free shipping):

*Rouge

*Good Morning

*A Man Escaped

Yep, the free shipping criteria still seems to be much lower than the expected new requirement for whatever reason(s) (and probably same as before near as I can tell).

I'm apparently working on that... w/ some 80-plus titles ordered this past week (between the Kino and Powerhouse sales plus the mere 3 thrown in here), LOL... though I'll never catch up to several others around these parts...:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I ordered Le Corbeau, Babette's Feast, and Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman on Blu-ray, and then got a $50 coupon, so went back to the storefront and ordered I Married a Witch, Kameradschaft, and Police Story/Police Story 2. A goodly and varied haul!

The Zatichi box set has both the BD and DVD discs - one fantastic set of the most loved character in Japanese film!!
